rent mr.right now
i just got forwarded THIS from a colleague who suggested i serve as a "wingchick" since she's under the impression i know a lot of guys, and why don't i ever introduce her to any of them? ha.
the website is for a company called "Rent Mr. Right Now" and provides single women or single men in the city with a date for an evening - should you and your significant other break up right before a friend's wedding or a work function, etc. no, she tells me, it's not an escort service, and in fact, the wingman or wingchick will actually help introduce you to those people at the event who you might like to meet.
it cracks me up. i can't believe it's come to this. ridiculous ...
i wonder if they're hiring ...

Funny--I actually got called into servitude as a wingman for a friend's happy hour date this evening. I guess she (the date) is bringing a friend, and I'm the only reasonably gifted conversationalist he (my friend) knows.
Can't say I'm for hire, tho. :p
Madison this weekend, anyone? Think I'm heading down Friday at the crack of dawn.

it could be really interesting... and it could give you some really interesting stories to tell... one never knows. i say go for it sister.
mmm, madison. always so jealous to hear about trips to madison. i think my next trip will be the first farmers' market saturday. corn, beans, cheese, bread, flowers, honey, mmmmmm ...
if madison gets too quiet, though, paolo, feel free to swing down to chicago.
Hmmm... people for hire for blind dates for other people. Not sure what I would think on one of those dates. It may be interesting, and I agree with Erin, who said that "it could give you some really interesting stories to tell" (previous comment). I wonder if I could be a story for someone... somewhere... someday...
whatever they're charging I cost half as much...
what's most exciting about this "rent-a-date" business is that i've been told that i actually know someone who does it. ooooh, that's so exciting. i wish he'd start a blog about his nights on the town.
if i really do change career paths, i may seriously consider this. just think of all that free food and dancing at weddings ...
There was actually a CSI episode where a girl who runs a company called "WingChicks" (with sort of the same idea) gets suffocated by one of the girls she introduced to her male client because the guy ended up raping the girl and got away with it. The girl would have never talked to the guy if the Wing Chick hadn't "introduced" them.
crazy huh? I guess there are liabilities in every "business."
